Can we compost take away containers?

Avoid wax-lined paper products like Milk Cartons, ice cream and fast food containers

We get this question a lot, and here is the answer - Wax lined paper products such as milk cartons, ice cream containers and fast food containers are lined with petroleum based plastic coating. So while the paper itself is compostable, the wax lining is not. Check your local recycling requirements to see if you can recycle instead! Also, check the mfg’s recommendations, see if their products are compostable. If in question throw away or do some additional research to make sure we don’t contaminate the soil with more plastics.
